Professional Bio
I am a student at the School of Geosciences studying Master of Arts in Geography,
specifically Geographic Information Systems and Spatial Analysis. Interestingly after
using GIS and spatial analysis tools across several environmental problems, and witnessing
floods locally and around the world, I am inspired to contribute towards solving flooding
problems through preventive measures anchored in GIS, modern Artificial Intelligence,
and Machine Learning.
I intend to use GIS, Geospatial data, and Machine Learning techniques to improve flood
inundation mapping. This includes a review of existing literature to identify how
existing ML models differ in flood prediction, and how modern AI and ML models differ
in prediction compared to older (1990) models. It also involves training ML models
with available flood-related data to produce flood inundation outcomes to test models'
sensitivity and suitability for different flood types.
I like watching soccer, reading story books, and writing poems in my leisure time.
