Department of Africana Studies and SIGS Professor Dr. Edward Kissi covers the Holocaust’s impact on surrounding regions in his new book “Africans and the Holocaust: Perceptions and Responses of Colonized and Sovereign Peoples.” In his new book, Dr. Kissi focuses on West and East African’s reactions to the persecution and attempted annihilation of the Jewish population in Europe and the former German colonies of sub-Saharan Africa during WWII. He felt inspired to write this book because of the lack of information on African’s reactions to such a huge part of the world’s history. His focus is on the relations between Jews and Africans before the Holocaust, the perceptions of Nazism, opinions of WWII and interpretations of the Holocaust, and the African’s response to Great Britain trying to resettle Jewish refugees in the regions.
