Biography
I am a researcher and queer feminist activist from Belarus, deeply committed to transnational and intersectional feminist theorizing and activism. I am excited to join USF as an Assistant Professor of Instruction, bringing with me extensive teaching experience in the WGSS curriculum from The Ohio State University. Drawing inspiration from bell hooks' concept of pedagogy as a practice of freedom, I view teaching as an opportunity to explore the complexities of social issues and empower students to actively engage with various aspects of their lives across disciplines. My teaching philosophy emphasizes collaborative learning and fosters an environment of affirmation and respect. I actively draw on my transnational and interdisciplinary experiences to facilitate deep learning and reflection.
My research is rooted in anti-colonial feminist theorizing, focusing on the complexities of multiple imperialisms within and between Europe, Eurasia, and the United States. In 2023, I was honored to receive an American Council of Learned Societies Fellowship to work on my book project. My current research project delves into the critical genealogies of transnational feminism, emphasizing the connections between U.S. Black women’s transnational activism and Eurasian knowledge production. My book project, in particular, explores Black feminist solidarities in Eurasia, examining how these interactions resonate with and contribute to contemporary anti-imperialist feminist movements.
I bring this research perspective into my teaching, inviting students to engage with global/local dynamics through a critical and intersectional lens. By integrating my research into the curriculum, I foster a deeper understanding of how feminist issues and movements shape—and are shaped by—the socio-political contexts in which they emerge, as well as how these contexts are interconnected. I also develop the digital project "The Archive Revisited: Black Feminist Internationalism and Eurasian Knowledge Production" that will include pedagogy components.
