Aaron West has been a member of the USF School of Music Faculty since 2022. His current responsibilities include teaching the Jazz Saxophone Studio, Survey of Jazz, and Pop Music Theory.

West has studied and specializes in jazz saxophone performance and the recording arts. He earned a BS in Music Industry Studies with a concentration in Recording and Production from Appalachian State University. While at ASU he performed internationally with the Appalachian State University Jazz Ensemble I, recorded and released albums with multiple independent artists, and built experience through internships at Earthtones Recording and SE Systems in Greensboro, NC.

He then earned a MM in Jazz Performance from the University of South Florida, and following his graduation he has solidified a place in the Tampa Bay music scene by performing with artists such as The Simon Lasky Group, The Ross Strauser Jazz Orchestra, Sandujazz, and The Gulf Coast Symphony. He also currently works as an audio engineer at Morrisound Recording, a live sound engineer at the New Tampa Performing Arts Center, and tours with Chuck Owen’s Resurgence as the live sound engineer. When West is not working in the music industry, he enjoys spending his time outside cycling and kayaking.
