Andrew Karr has served as the Horn Instructor at USF since 2007.

Originally from the Boston area, Karr received his musical training first at the New England Conservatory and then at the Curtis Institute of Music, with additional professional training as a hornist at The New World Symphony in Miami, where he studied conducting privately with Michael Tilson Thomas. In addition to maintaining private horn and piano studios he served as adjunct instructor at Vassar College.

Primarily a performer, Karr is very active as a professional orchestral horn player. He is Assistant Principal/Utility Horn of the Florida Orchestra and Assistant Principal Horn of the Colorado Music Festival. Prior to these positions he was Second Horn and Acting Principal of the Sarasota Orchestra and Principal Horn of the Shanghai Philharmonic. He is a regular guest artist with notable orchestras and opera companies both regionally and nationally, and has performed as a soloist with orchestras around the world.
