Dance Studies
Bachelor of Arts in Dance Studies
The BA in Dance Studies is designed for students seeking to explore dance in relation
to other areas of interest. It is a flexible program that enables students to pursue
a core study in dance along with a focus in another field, such as theatre, education,
healthcare, business, psychology, communications, and more. The dance studies major
assembles a broad base of knowledge that prepares you to work in a vast range of fields.
The comprehensive curriculum provides study in studio technique, choreography, and
dance theory courses. Each dance studies major is required to research and develop
a final independent project incorporating dance with their focused area of study.
These projects will be developed during their senior year in consultation with a faculty
member.
Students can tailor their course of study to their career interests and goals because
of the individual nature of the program. You have the opportunity to combine the BA
with a minor in another discipline, or to develop a unique program by choosing electives
in your area of interest.
Limited Access
The BA in Dance Studies is a limited access program. Students must audition with the dance department to be formally accepted as a dance major.
