Is USF using a search firm?

Yes, USF has retained the services of SP&A Executive Search, a highly regarded firm that worked with the university in its last presidential search.

Who is on the search committee?

Board of Trustees Chair Will Weatherford announced the committee members on Feb. 20, 2025. The list of the committee members can be found under the Committee Member tab of the presidential search website.
 
The committee is advisory and will be responsible for recommending a small number of qualified candidates to the USF Board of Trustees, who will then interview the finalists and select the next president, pending final confirmation from the Board of Governors.

What is the anticipated timeline for the search?

The search will be divided into four phases: i) listening session(s) and search committee orientation; ii) Board of Trustees approval of the search plan and position description; iii) the search, including identifying qualified candidates and interviews; and iv) USF Board of Trustees interviews and selection of the next president, pending Board of Governors confirmation.
 
Dates and times of the listening sessions, search committee meetings, and Board of Trustees’ meetings will be posted on the presidential search website once they are scheduled. President Law will remain the USF President while a national search is conducted and until a successor is selected.

How can I participate in the search?

The Board of Trustees welcomes all stakeholders to participate in the search process for the university’s next president. Information on opportunities for the community to provide input on the search will be shared and posted on the presidential search website once they are available.

How will the USF community be informed about the progress of the presidential search?

Updates will be provided on the presidential search website. Stakeholders may also participate and be informed by attending any public search committee and Board of Trustees’ meetings, which will be publicly noticed on the Presidential Search Committee Meetings webpage and the Board of Trustees meeting webpage.
