Our team is made up of dedicated undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students, as well as experienced researchers. We focus on advancing research in developmental language delay among bilingual children, particularly in Latino communities. Together, we work to raise awareness and provide valuable insights that benefit both children and their families. Our research is driven by a passion for improving language development in bilingual settings and supporting educational growth in these communities.
We are developing a screening tool to assess reading and language skills in bilingual 6-year-old children. Our goal is to identify early signs of reading difficulties, including dyslexia and developmental language delay, to support targeted interventions and promote language development. Our workshops offer an enriching experience for bilingual families, combining education on early literacy with cultural preservation. Parents and children read together in both English and Spanish, while engaging in fun, interactive activities that promote language development. These workshops not only empower parents with strategies to support their children's reading skills but also strengthen family bonds and cultural heritage. We proudly collaborate with the Hispanic Services Council, the Children's Board, and more exciting partners to come. Join us in celebrating bilingualism and creating a love for reading across generations!
