At the core of our approach is a simple, elegant idea—slavery is defeated when at-risk
communities acquire the knowledge, tools and resources they need to overcome vulnerability
and secure freedom.
IOM works closely with governments, the United Nations, international and non-governmental
organizations, the private sector and human rights, peace and development actors across
humanitarian and development settings, to achieve our common goals.
Trafficking in human beings concerns all OSCE participating States, both as a security
threat and a human rights issue. Virtually all countries in the region are countries
of origin, transit, or destination, or a combination of the above. The OSCE addresses
all relevant issues: human rights and rule of law; corruption and crime control; discrimination
and inequality; and economic, labour, and migration policies. In 2003, the Organization
set up the Office and post of Special Representative and Co-ordinator for Combating
Trafficking in Human Beings to help participating States develop and implement effective
policies.
Shared Hope International is a non-profit, non-governmental, Christian organization
that exists to prevent sex trafficking and restore and bring justice to women and
children who have been victimized through sex trafficking. SHI is part of a worldwide
effort to prevent and eradicate sex trafficking and slavery.
The Global Initiative comprises a network of over 600 independent global and regional
experts working on human rights, democracy, governance, and development issues where
organized crime has become increasingly pertinent.
The SHERLOC portal is an initiative to facilitate the dissemination of information
regarding the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Transnational
Organized Crime, the three Protocols thereto and the international legal framework
against terrorism.
