CFS Associate Professor Christina Dillahunt-Aspillaga will guide the development of a traumatic brain injury (TBI) training curriculum for the staff of Nebraska Vocational Rehabilitation and Supported Employment providers.
The multi-tiered, person-centered, culturally competent training will help build capacity in core partners of Nebraska's system of services and supports to effectively, equitably serve all individuals with TBI. These services are intended for individuals for whom, due to the severity of their disabilities, competitive employment has not been achieved, or has been intermittent or interrupted, and who will need continuing support to maintain integrated competitive employment. Services include individualized placement, on-site training and coaching, and long-term support. The competency-based training curriculum that focuses on the unique needs of job seekers with TBI will be made available to all Nebraska SE providers.
Dr. Dillahunt-Aspillaga will meet regularly with the Nebraska VR team and a diverse TBI stakeholder planning group to ensure the curriculum is developed with significant, meaningful input from individuals with TBI.
Nebraska VR will continue consulting with Dr. Dillahunt-Aspillaga and the multi-stakeholder planning group to modify the competency-based training curriculum for use with the agency's providers of Supported Employment services.
