How to Apply

Applying to the USF Online MSW program is easy. All materials must be uploaded to the Graduate School Application. All admission materials must be received by the Graduate Admissions Office by the specified deadlines of the year for which admission is being sought and early submission is strongly encouraged.  Applicants are required to complete an online application.

  1. Submit completed Graduate Admissions Application to USF Graduate with a non-refundable $30 application fee.
  2. Upload the following documents as part of the online application. All forms for the supporting documents listed below can be found as part of the USF Graduate School Application.
    • Résumé or Curriculum Vitae
    • Two Essays
      • Essay 1: Professional Statement (500 words maximum)
      • Essay 2: Personal Statement (500 words maximum)
    • Three references: Select a cross-section of references, including employers, faculty or other individuals who have evaluated your work and can speak to your academic abilities and/or related paid social work or volunteer experience.
    • Official transcripts mailed from each university you have attended (mail an official transcript of all undergraduate & graduate coursework attempted and/or completed to the USF Office of Graduate Admissions, 4202 E. Fowler Ave. SVC 1036, Tampa, FL 33620-2910. NOTE: USF graduates may submit unofficial transcripts.  All others must submit official transcripts.

Please note: A personal interview with members of the faculty may be part of the admissions process online through Microsoft Teams. This interview will cover all matters relevant to the candidate's qualifications. 

Application Deadlines

October 15 for a spring semester start (Traditional Track)
February 15 for a summer semester start (Advanced Standing)
June 1 for a fall semester start (Traditional Track and Advanced Standing)
