NEDC
The National Engineering Design Competition (NEDC) is the national competition of MESA USA held in June for every MESA state in the country! This is an all expense paid event for MESA students that typically lasts between 3-4 days depending on the event itinerary. To get an idea of what to expect at the NEDC, visit the MESA USA NEDC website.
Students who attend nationals are competing against teams from each of the MESA states. Nationals is an opportunity for students to travel to another state and meet new people from all across the country. During nationals, students get to see other teams' inventions and show off their own in the form of a presentation to everyone at the event! Students will also get to bond with other MESA teams, and staff, and learn about the host states' culture, and more!
NEDC Requirements
As teams design their MESA projects, there are constraints that projects must follow that go beyond the products presented at the state's MESA Day. These include:
- Design Proposal
- Academic Poster
- Technical Pitch
- Symposium
- Use of a microcontroller in the product design
NEDC Project Theme
Projects must fit the MESA USA project theme. This year's theme is Designing for Equity Locally to Affect Sustainability Globally. See website for more information on the project theme.
Student projects must also fit the United Nations Sustainable Develop Goals (UN-SDGs) in a community centered capacity
