Teacher Leadership for Student Learning Graduate Certificate
Program overview
The Teacher Leadership for Student Learning Certificate is designed for teachers who want to stay and lead from within the classroom. This program is best suited for educators currently teaching in the pre-kindergarten through grade 12 setting.
Individuals seeking formal teacher leader roles such as department chair, instructional coach, peer mentor, team leader, etc. will find the coursework useful to their professional development. Aspiring administrators may also find the content useful as principals and other instructional leaders must understand concepts of teacher leadership in order to effectively enact distributive leadership.
The Teacher Leadership for Student Learning Graduate Certificate was developed with input from local school district partners, and prepares participants to meet the National Teacher Leader Model Standards and the National Staff Development Council’s Standards, now referred to as Learning Forward.
Within the certificate coursework, teachers will learn about teacher leadership as well as the skills needed to engage in and lead teacher research, coach for student learning, facilitate high quality job-embedded learning at their schools, and develop a lens of equity.
Coursework in this certificate program can be applied to some advanced graduate degree programs in the USF College of Education. Contact the program coordinator for more information.
