USF students gain literacy teaching skills through virtual tutoring program
In response to USF's shift to fully-online instruction due to the coronavirus pandemic, the College of Education's summer literacy practicum course was hosted in a format that gave USF students experience tutoring preschool and elementary-aged students in virtual settings.

Alumni Spotlight: Francesca Perrone-Britt
With a lifelong desire to become a teacher, USF alumna Francesca Perrone-Britt eventually found her passion in working with elementary-aged students. Today, the soon to be three-time graduate of the university teaches at a school less than 10 minutes from USF’s Tampa campus, and the achievements she’s made so far in her career led her to become the 2020 recipient of the College of Education’s Young Educator Alumni Award.

Ryan Blew has known what he wanted to be when he grew up since the third grade. The USF junior says the feeling has stuck with him into the present day. He was inspired by his third-grade teacher, silver-medalist Olympic swimmer Kristy Kowal, but she didn’t inspire him to become an Olympian.
