Internship Elective
CIS 6946 Internships
Graduate students who are interested in pursuing an internship and/or registering for credit hours while completing a degree program must turn in the following paperwork to the CSE Graduate Student Advisor . Students must have completed at least 18 graduate-level credits and have a minimum overall GPA of 3.00 to be eligible to complete an internship. The internship MUST be related the field of study and work experience must be conducted under approved supervision. Paperwork must be completed BEFORE the registration deadline of the semester in which the student will intern. It takes approximately one week for this paperwork to be processed at the department level, so please plan accordingly.
International students who are interested in pursuing an internship should consult with the ISSS about the Curricular Practical Training (CPT) process before starting this procedure.
Students may take up to two (2) semesters of internship, but only three (3) credit
hours may be counted toward their degree. Any additional internship credits the student
registers for will not count towards the degree. . Master's students can count a total
of three (3) credits of internship or independent study towards their degree. Students
interested in registering must fill out the Graduate Internship Request Form.
Submit COMPLETED form and copy of job offer to the CSE Graduate Student Advisor.

International Students
In order to request approval for this elective you will need the following:

- Completed Internship Request form (to be submitted in iStart)
- CPT Authorization Form
- You must be registered for the internship course before you can finalize your CPT application.
Students interested in doing internships abroad need to obtain appropriate working visas from the foreign country. Working visas need to be shown along with the Internship Registration Form and company offer letter for course approval.
Upon finalizing the internship, students are required to turn in an Employer Evaluation Form. This form must be completed and signed by the industry supervisor.
