Osniel Quintana earns Goldwater Honorable Mention

Osniel Quintana, a junior in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, is a 2017 Goldwater Honorable Mention. Osniel seeks to obtain a PhD in Computer Science in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI). His goal is to teach at a university, or work in an AI research group, such as the Google DeepMind project. Osniel's mentor is Yueng de la Hoz.

The Barry Goldwater Scholarship was established by Congress in 1986 in honor of Senator Barry Goldwater. Goldwater scholarships are awarded to juniors who intend to pursue research careers in the natural sciences, mathematics and engineering to ensure that the U.S. is producing the number of highly-qualified professionals the Nation needs in these critical fields.
