USF-Led Team Awarded NSF Convergence Accelerator Grant To Link The Green Economy To The Blue Economy At The Coast

A USF-led team, headed by Maya Trotz, environmental engineering professor and principal investigator (PI), has been awarded an NSF Convergence Accelerator Grant for their project titled: "Linking the Green Economoy to the Blue Economy at the Coast." The phase I grant awards funding up to $750,000 to further develop the initial concept, identify new team members, participate in the innovation curriculum, and develop an initial prototype.

Skinner will accept the award at SWE’s annual conference, WE21, which will be held from Oct. 21-23 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Bulls-Eye Mentoring Program Goes Online

Introduced in 2014, the Bulls-EYE Mentoring program successfully promotes STEM by delivering engineering problem solving to middle school students within a family-friendly environment. The program gives USF engineering undergraduates the opportunity to serve as program mentors tasked with assisting middle school students (mentees) who are at risk for low achievement, but may benefit from high expectations, life skills, and STEM learning. The resulting effort fosters the growth of both mentors and mentees.
