Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loans
The PLUS Process At USF
The entire PLUS process can take three to four weeks. The process is simple when you follow these steps:
- Make sure you have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with USF's school code #001537. Although the PLUS loan is not need based, a FAFSA is required to have a Federal PLUS loan processed at USF. Please note that a new FAFSA is required each academic year.
- Complete a Direct Graduate PLUS loan application.
-
- If approved, you must complete a PLUS Master Promissory Note (MPN)
- If denied, you may pursue an endorser. If the loan becomes approved by obtaining an endorser or satisfactorily meeting the extenuating circumstance provision; the student must complete PLUS Loan Counseling as a requirement for the loan to be processed.
Once the application and any additional requirements are complete, the school will determine final eligibility. Graduate Plus application processing begins 45 days before the start of each term.
