More than 500 students, residents, trainees, faculty and leaders came together for the 35th annual USF Health Research Day, the largest research-focused event at the University of South Florida and the keynote celebration of health sciences research at the four USF Health colleges.

University of South Florida Student Named 2025 Lifesavers Traffic Safety Scholar

Liaba Khan has been named a 2025 Lifesavers Traffic Safety Scholar (TSS) and will attend the Lifesavers Conference on Roadway Safety, March 9-11 in Long Beach, California. They are pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Public Health, Social Marketing and are one of 29 U.S. students selected through a competitive application process. The Lifesavers Conference showcases the latest research, evidence-based strategies, proven countermeasures, and promising new approaches for addressing the nation’s most pressing traffic safety issues.

USF honors two COPH teams for outstanding excellence

Each year, the University of South Florida recognizes employees who demonstrate "above and beyond" performance excellence and uphold the core values of USF's Strategic Plan, “in pursuit of excellence,” with the Outstanding Staff Awards. This year, two teams from USF’s College of Public Health (COPH) were celebrated for their exceptional contributions to the university’s success--the Family Study Center (FSC) and the COPH Lifelong Learning Academy (LLA).

USF team wins social marketing award for transportation study on benefits of neuromarketing in enhancing consumer information

Marketers want to get inside your mind − literally. That’s the focus of a multi-disciplinary study by USF’s College of Public Health (COPH), Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) in the College of Engineering and MUMA College of Business. Working with agencies in the public sector the group focused on the use of neuromarketing to test marketing materials and how people respond to messaging about certain needs, in this case, transportation options.

Twenty-seven USF faculty members were recognized on Tuesday, September 17 with Outstanding Research Achievement Awards. The COPH's Judith Rijnhart was recognized for her distinguished contributions to the field of epidemiology and expertise in mediation analysis to investigate causal mechanisms that underlie exposure and intervention effects of cognitive health outcomes in older adults.
