Madie – Peer Counselor

Hi everybody! My name is Madie, & I’m super excited to meet all of you this summer. This will be my second year as a peer counselor, and I couldn’t be more ready. I was a camper in 2019 & I absolutely loved it! One of my favorite memories has to be when I got to be a part of the ANGARI research vessel expedition. We got the chance to be out on the boat & use real equipment to test real oceanic conditions. I got to test visibility, salinity, oxygen levels, & so much more. Working in the field with professionals was incredible- nothing like I had ever done before. It was an amazing experience! On that trip, I was able to meet some pretty cool people & form stronger friendships with the other girls. Every day at OCG was full of unforgettable moments & memories that will last a lifetime. I can’t wait to see everyone, let’s make this summer one to remember!

Juanita – Peer Counselor

Hey campers i'm Juanita and I was a camper in 2019! Participating in OCG was one of the best experiences I’ve had and everything we did at camp was super exciting. I have a couple favorite memories from camp but these two are the best. First when we went to St. Pete beach early in the morning to collect shells while no one was there. The beach was peaceful, and the water was amazing. My other favorite memory is when we went aboard the ANGARI, a research vessel and got to learn all about the ship and do some research for ourselves. This year I am looking forward to helping all of you guys and making sure you have the best summer at camp!!

Kylie – Peer Counselor

Hey everyone! My name is Kylie, and I am thrilled to be a part of OCG for another summer of fun and adventure! I was a 2020 camper, but our camp experience got delayed until 2021 due to COVID. That turned out to be a blessing in disguise, though, because otherwise I wouldn't have met some of the incredible people I got to know last summer. I made some great friends and and got to share unforgettable moments with them. OCG was an experience that I will forever be grateful for, and I am so excited to get to make some more memories with all of you this summer!

I am Larimar Vasquez Rios and I went to OCG camp 2019, I am so excited to meet and make new friends!

Abby L – Peer Counselor

I am from St.Petersburg fl, I just graduated from Calvary Christian High school and will attend St.Petersburg College/ USF in the fall, I plan to study Marine Science. I was an OCG camper in 2018 and my favorite OCG memory is when we were on the cruise and we all drank plankton.

 

Sarah – Peer Counselor

Hii!! My name is Sarah and I’m ecstatic to be a peer counselor this year at OCG. I was a 2020 camper, so my initial camp experience was virtual, but in 2021 I was lucky enough to experience the camp with the 2020 and 2021 campers in person! OCG was a very special experience to me; I got to use lab equipment to collect real data and learned a lot about the environment, my peers, and myself along the way. The field trips, the activities, the science, the van rides, the singing, and the community all made my camp experience something to be treasured. Now, let’s make OCG of 2022 even more memorable! See you at camp!!

Delaney – Peer Counselor

Hey guys! I’m Delaney and I’m from Clearwater Fl, and I currently attend Clearwater Highschool. I attended OCG in 2019 and my favorite OCG memory is when we spent the day at the Clam Bayou and we learned about deep sea fish and tides and a whole bunch of different things. It seems kind of silly to say but I think of my 2019 summer a lot, and how much this camp affected me. The camp really deepened my passion for the ocean and made oceanography one of my top major choices for college in the future. I also met a lot of cool people and I can't wait to see them again this summer and meet new people as well! I can't wait to see you guys!

Abby A – Peer Counselor

Hi guys! My name is Abby and I was a camper in 2019. I’ll be a peer counselor this summer and I’m so excited to meet all the new campers and be able to share the OCG experience with everyone this year. My favorite memory from camp was going on the boat and looking at samples under the microscope, but every day was super fun. I’m going to be a senior this fall and I’m planning on studying aerospace engineering when I go off to college. I’m so excited to meet all of you!
