We connect faculty with the media to provide expert analysis on current events and trends. As journalists work on tight deadlines, we made the process easier by creating the USF Experts Guide and abbreviated experts guides on popular topics.
Why it’s important
Sharing your expertise affirms the value of higher education and its impact on society. In addition to earning media coverage, highlighting faculty research helps attract support from new funding sources, inspires new collaborations and strengthens professional and institutional reputation.
Timing is everything
News content must be timely and relevant to a general audience. It’s critical to inform UCM once an academic journal article has been accepted for publication. This allows time for our team to work with faculty to create content and share it with our network of reporters under embargo, greatly increasing the chances of media coverage.

Capture your research
Photography is one of the most impactful forms of storytelling. Be sure to take photos and videos from the field and inform UCM when additional visual opportunities become available.
Media training
UCM hosts media training sessions each semester to help faculty feel more comfortable with the process.
