On November 15, 2024, environmental leaders, businesses, and advocates gathered at the University of South Florida’s Patel College for Global Sustainability to celebrate Florida Recycles Day. Hosted by the Florida Recycling Partnership Foundation and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), and facilitated by the Patel College of Global Sustainability, the event highlighted innovative recycling strategies and showcased a commitment to sustainability.
The event featured a variety of expert panelists with topics ranging from recycling capacity and market trends to the difficulty and importance of proper battery recycling processes. In addition, the event recognized key entities that went above and beyond in the realm of recycling through FDEP Recycling Recognition Awards. The counties, Collier County, Baker County, and Palm Beach County, and companies - Goodwill Industries and Coca-Cola Beverages Florida were celebrated for their innovative recycling programs.
