Personalized Career Planning and Guidance (Chapter 36)

Chapter 36, Personalized Career Planning and Guidance (PCPG) (formerly known as Education and Vocational Counseling), is a benefit available to USF student Veterans, transitioning Servicemembers, and Veteran dependents. This program can provide brief and informal Chapter 36 services or more in-depth, formal Chapter 36 counseling.
Chapter 36 Counseling may include:
- Career & Education exploration which provides guidance and support in selecting the best career and education options based on your interests, aptitudes, and abilities
- Benefits coaching aids with understanding and accessing of your VA benefits, health services, and other related Veteran benefits through the school or other government agencies.
- Personalized support to assist with academic or adjustment counseling to help remove any barriers to success
Chapter 36 Services may include:
- Assistance with registration for VA.gov
- Assistance with registration for VA Healthcare (my HealtheVet)
- Identification of on-campus resources available to all students
- Identification of work-study opportunities
- Referral to campus mentoring programs
- Review of any applicable articulation agreements
Eligibility Criteria:
- All current VA education benefit recipients (Chapters 33, 30, 1606, and 35)
- Any Servicemember or Veteran eligible for a VA education benefit
- Transitioning Servicemembers within six months prior to discharge from active duty
- Veterans within one year after discharge from active duty
