FILING A REPORT
Title VI Specific Reports:
To report a student was excluded from participation in or was denied benefits of a
university program, or was discriminated against in a university program, based on
the student's race, color, or national origin which includes actual or perceived (1)
shared ancestry or ethnic characteristics; or (2) citizenship or residency in a country
with a dominate religion or distinct religious identity, (see Title VI of the Civil
Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. §§ 2000d, et seq. ("Title VI") and see 34 C.F.R. Part
100).
Harassing/Discriminatory Behavior Examples:
Harassing/discriminatory behaviors may include: verbal abuse, graphic or written statements,
physical assault, or other conduct that may be threatening, harmful, or humiliating.
Specific examples may include slurs or taunts, threats, and/or attacks based on actual
or perceived race, color, or national origin. The unwelcome conduct may occur in many
different contexts and locations including, but not limited to: classrooms, residence
halls, hallways, cafeterias, transporation, athletic facilities, and in certain cases,
on the internet and social networking sites and apps if the conduct excludes or denies
a student benefits of a program or discriminates against a student in a university

AFTER FILING A REPORT
When you file a report:
- The Student Equal Opportunity Office (Student-EO) will review the report to determine
if the allegations are in violation of the Student Code of Conduct or suject to Title
VI. This review will take place during regular business hours and if possible, a response
with status will be provided within five (5) business days.
- If so, Student-EO will determine whether an investigation is appropriate and what
action(s) the University can take to assist the affected student.
- If the report is "Substantiated", Student-EO will coordinate with other Departments to resolve the allegation(s) or initiate disciplinary proceedings, as appropriate.
