FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What can I expect with camping? Some people say the field station will be ready, some say we are "car camping", others say we are camping in remote places.
We will be camping close to vehicles with space to leave extra stuff. No hiking to camp spots. The field station will be open, but the completion date is not set, more information about the field station will be posted later.
When or where will showers/bathrooms be available?
- Hydrogeology and Coastal Geology: Lodging will be supplied by USF for multi-day trips. Access to showers.
- Introduction to Mapping with Volcanology: No access to showers or laundry facilities during the first week. Access to laundry and showers during second week of class.
- Structural Mapping and Geophysics: Access to laundry and showers.
Do I have to communicate with the USF Rec Center for equipment rentals, or is that something done for me?
If you need items, contact the USF Rec Center directly. Student voices are powerful.
Is the $1800 for field camp fees due immediately at the start of the summer semester, regardless of when our camps start?
Each class Activity fee will be added to you Student Self-Service account after the first week of the specific class. Expect to see fees hit your account while in the class. Each class will be added separately.
Do I need to purchase field books or are they provided?
Field books are provided.
