MEET OUR YOGA INSTRUCTOR

Elaine Churton

Elaine Churton

Elaine Churton, RYT 200; certified by Yoga Alliance, began her lifelong yoga practice as a young mother of twins while living in Arizona in the 1970s. Her long and winding tenure of yoga practice led her to teacher training with Lucky Cat Yoga and Wellness in 2018; and soon after combined her professional life as a mental health therapist/administrator with her passion for teaching the benefits of yoga. She also enjoys teaching practitioners and caregivers in local community mental centers as well as individuals residing in behavioral health crisis centers and residential homes.

Elaine has also studied with Rolf Gates, Yoga and Recovery; and Stephanie Keach, co-founder of the Asheville Yoga Center. She is a perennial student of yoga as well as holding the philosophy of accepting and respecting each individual exactly as he or she arrives on the mat. She enjoys the mindful connection of community created with each class, enjoying a combination of playfulness, movement, and calmness.  Her favorite mantra is — Be Here Now.
