Admissions Test
Test Prep Resources
While the LSAT is offered various times throughout the year, it is recommended that students take the LSAT in late summer/early fall of the year before they wish to start law school. For example, if a student wishes to start law school in Fall 2026, they ideally would sit for the LSAT in June, July (if offered), or August of 2025. That way, if a student is not satisfied with their score, they will have enough time to re-take the exam before submitting their applications in late fall.
It is recommended that students start studying at least six months prior to taking the LSAT but some students start much earlier. Some students prefer to self-study while others take virtual or in-person test prep courses.
Below is a list of some popular LSAT prep courses completed by our pre-law students:
- Blackstone LSAT Prep (both virtual and in-person)
- Kaplan (both virtual and in-person)
- The Princeton Review (both virtual and in-person)
- Blueprint (virtual only)
- LSAT Demon (virtual only)
- 7Sage LSAT (virtual only)
- USF Office of Corporate Training and Professional Education (virtual only)
- LSAC LawHub (virtual only)
- Khan Academy (virtual only)
Students can find a comprehensive list of LSAT prep companies on the LSAC website.
Although the goal is to earn your desired score on the first attempt, students can re-take the LSAT five times within the current reportable score period and a total of seven times in a lifetime. It is highly recommended that students speak with the law schools they are interested in to see how they view multiple attempts of the LSAT.
Students also have the option of purchasing the LSAT Score Preview which allows test takers to cancel their score within six calendar days if they are not happy with it so it is not released to their LSAC JD account.
