IBL 2025 Annual Conference: Black Joy
February 06, 2025 — February 07, 2025
SUBMISSION GUIDeLINES
The Institute on Black Life invites you to submit for a short proposal (max. 300 words) for a research paper, artistic project or expressive work, roundtable, or informational session for consideration in our upcoming 2025 IBL Annual Conference on the theme of Black Joy.
Black Joy is a powerful lens through which we can understand the full breadth of Black life, identity, and resilience. This conference seeks to explore and celebrate the dynamic ways Black individuals and communities cultivate joy in the face of personal and systemic challenges. We invite scholars, artists, activists, and practitioners to engage in thoughtful discussions on the varied functions and expressions of joy, as well as the contexts in which “joy” attains cultural, social, and political value.
For research presentations, roundtables, and informational sessions, please ensure the abstract clearly identifies your topic, its significance, and its relevance to the conference theme.
For artistic projects or expressive works, please briefly describe your work and its relationship to the conference theme. Include links to any internet-based content that you have produced, including social media content, that may help us visualize or hear your work and/or style.
Submission Deadline is December 02, 2024.
All questions about submissions should be emailed to IBL.
