Conflicts of Interest
A conflict of interest (COI) or commitment may occur when an individual’s financial interests, relationships, outside activities, or family interests/relationships influences his/her judgement in the performance of his/her job duties or organizational policies.
Healthcare team members have unqiue risks when interacting with Pharmaceutical, Medical Device and Biotechnology industries. USF and USFH have developed policies related to these interactions:
- USF Regulation 9.019, Limiting Conflicts of Interest in Interactions with the Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, and Biotechnology Industries
- USF Health Policy for Billing Advisory Services by Outside Parties
- USF Health Policy: Pharmaceutical Rep/Vendors visiting USF Health
The key to avoiding a COI is to disclose the scenario for compliance review and guidance. Learn more about your disclosure responsibilities and USF’s process.
