Before Your Federal Direct Student Loan Will Disburse, you must...

Step 1

Accept Your Loans

  1. Login to Student Self-Service by clicking the tile on MyUSF
  2. Select ‘Financial Aid’
  3. Select the correct award year from the drop-down menu in the top right corner
  4. On the ‘Home’ tab, make sure you have read and accepted the ‘Financial Aid Terms and Conditions’.
    • You MUST accept the Terms and Conditions before you can accept, decline or reduce your loans
  5. Click the ‘Award Offer’ tab and scroll down to view your aid offer 
  6. For each type of aid you are offered, there will be a link with more information about your awards. Please review it carefully
  7. Review your awards and decide if you want to accept, reduce or decline them by using the drop-down in the ‘Take Action’ column
  8. Once you’ve made your decisions, click the ‘Submit’ button and you’re done!

Step 2

New Borrowers: Complete Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note (MPN)

  1. Go to https://studentaid.gov and sign in using your FSA ID
  2. Complete the Entrance Counseling
  3. Complete and sign your Master Promissory Note

Complete the PLUS Loan Application & Master Promissory Note (MPN)

Step 1: Parents must:

  1. Go to https://studentaid.gov and sign in using your (Parent) FSA ID
  2. Click on ‘Request Direct PLUS Loan’ to complete the PLUS application
  3. If approved, click on ‘Complete MPN’, then your parent must sign the PLUS Master Promissory Note using their (Parent) FSA ID
  4. Check Student Self-Service 5-10 business days after applying to accept your PLUS of the loan. 
  5. If your PLUS loan application is denied, an extended unsubsidized loan will be automatically awarded to your student

Step 2: Accept Your PLUS Loan

  1. Login to Student Self-Service by clicking the tile on MyUSF
  2. Select ‘Financial Aid’
  3. Select the correct award year from the drop-down menu in the top right corner
  4. On the ‘Home’ tab, make sure you have read and accepted the ‘Financial Aid Terms and Conditions’.

Before Your Federal Direct GradPLUS Loan will pay, you must:

Graduate Students: 

Step 1: Complete the GradPLUS application, GradPLUS Entrance Counseling & GradPLUS Master Promissory Note

  1. Go to https://studentaid.gov and sign in using your FSA ID
  2. Complete the GradPLUS application, GradPLUS Entrance Counseling and sign your GradPLUS Master Promissory Note
  3. Check your awards in Student Self-Service 5-10 business days after applying to accept your GradPLUS loan if your application is approved
