Graduate Program Directors

Mentoring Resources

For Mentors:  The Office of Graduate Studies provides this mentoring plan template as an example. Each plan should be tailored to each graduate student, their proposed project, the supervising PI, the academic program goals, and the student’s professional development.

For Mentees:  This plan is an example for grad students and postdocs and may provide ideas to enhance your training. Use the template to discuss your training plans with your mentor!

For Mentees:
The A.C.H.I.E.V.E. IDP is a flexibly structured “individual development plan” or IDP framework that empowers graduate students and postdoctoral scholars to facilitate establishing and accomplishing professional and career goals.

The framework, developed by USF OGS, emphasizes self-awareness combined with career exploration, networking, and mentor feedback to provide intentionality in pursuit of your goals.

USF Agreement Between Mentors and Mentees

Graduate Students and Postdocs (mentees) will develop a mentoring relationship between one or more individuals throughout their program. A positive mentoring relationship between the individual and advisor is essential for success. Please review the commitments of both the mentors and mentees within the linked documents below.
