At the age of two, Honors student Barbara Figueredo moved to the U.S. from Venezuela after her family left the country due to the political turmoil that continues today. Coming to America and learning English at a young age made her want to pursue an Education degree.

Through his involvement revitalizing the JGHC Community Garden, Phillips developed a service-learning course and teaches as a peer educator about sustainability, beekeeping and urban ecology.
