EURAXESS North America Regional Coordinator Jackson Howard gave an overview of the EURAXESS portal, which provides information about research funding and fellowship opportunities, and insights for researchers about living and working in Europe. Howard manages the European Scientific Diasporas in North America initiative together with the EU Delegation and EU Member States & Associated Countries.
EURAXESS is the largest pan-European initiative to foster researchers’ mobility and career development. Researchers can pursue collaboration opportunities in 43 countries and nine global hubs across Europe. There is no cost to take advantage of EURAXESS, designed to facilitate connection for North American researchers with EU funding such as Horizon Europe, raising the visibility of grants through the European Research Council. EURAXESS also helps match international postdocs to U.S. labs and serves as a resource for graduate student seeking international research scholarships to the Erasmus Mundus joint masters programs and the Marie Skodwska-Curie Actions fellowships.
Laurel Thomas, assistant director for Global Planning, Accountability, and Strategic Initiatives at USF World, launched the faculty session and shared the robust resources available across USF to promote and support international scholarship and global engagement, including information about virtual global exchange, the Fulbright Program, international travel policies, hosting a visiting J-1 scholar, assistance with international research & funding searches, and USF's overall global engagement.
This event was co-hosted by the USF Research Development Institute, Office of Graduate Studies and USF World for USF faculty and graduate students on Friday, October 4, 2024. Strong participation included faculty and student researchers from across all three USF campuses. To learn more about resources at USF World contact Laurel Thomas, assistant director for Global Planning, Accountability, and Strategic Initiatives at USF World.
