Samuel Henderson
Sam Henderson has extensive experience in Environmental Science and Policy, having served as a former Adjunct Professor at the University of South Florida and St. Petersburg College. He taught courses in environmental science, policy, and Acquisition of Knowledge through the Judy Genshaft Honors College.
With a career spanning 25 years, Sam has worked in various roles from soil sampling to hazardous waste management and local policy crafting. He holds an A.S. in Environmental Technology from Stark State College, Ohio, and a B.S. and M.A. in Environmental Science and Policy from USF St. Petersburg. Sam has lived in North Carolina, Texas, and Ohio, and has been a resident of Florida since 2006. His diverse work experience includes roles such as furniture mover, bartender, landscaper, FEMA Contractor, metal fabricator, air quality consultant, demolition site manager, compliance specialist, health and safety auditor, environmental technician – and Mayor of Gulfport, FL since 2013.
Since 2017, he has focused on teaching, aiming to blend academics with practical life experience to create fun and energizing learning environments.
