Services Offered
General Medical Information
Registered students have reduced costs for general medical office visits or consultations. Minimal fees are charged for specialty care and prescriptions. We can bill your insurance, or you can self-pay. Call SHWC for questions about your medications or refills. Prescriptions for controlled medications must be picked up at our clinic. Other prescriptions can be electronically sent to USF Bulls Country Pharmacy or pharmacy of your choice.
Primary Care Services
Having a primary care provider is part of being a healthy, responsible student. You will be assigned a medical provider to assist with your health care. It is helpful to develop a relationship with your provider so you'll be comfortable asking health and wellness questions, even if they may be embarrassing. We can treat colds, flu, cough, stomach aches, or sprains and we are here to help with chronic illness like allergies, asthma, or diabetes.
Sexual Health & Gynecology
SHWC offers confidential examinations, testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), contraceptive management for men and women, and other gynecological services. All women are encouraged to have an annual gynecological exam. Specialty services may incur a fee.
LGBTQ+ Health Services
USF Student Health & Wellness Center is committed to non-discrimination with respect to race, creed, color, religion, age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, marital status, national origin, political opinions or affiliations, genetic information, and veteran status. To that end, we strive to provide students with the right medical care and advice related to their individual bodies and perspectives.
Mental Health Services
Case Management services evaluate individual mental health needs and provide assistance in accessing services. Psychiatrists are available to evaluate and treat mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar illness, or thought disorders. Post-doctoral psychologists are accessible to provide counseling utilizing brief therapy techniques to improve well-being. SHWC does not provide letters for emotional support animals.
Testing for ADD, ADHD, & Learning Disability
SHWC offers Neuropsychology, a specialty service to test and evaluate students for ADD, ADHD, other learning disabilities, and brain trauma. As part of initial consultation, test(s) will be recommended and cost will be provided. Testing can be billed to insurance or offered at student rates. After testing, a neuropsychologist will also recommend academic or work accommodation if needed.
Immunizations & Allergy Shots
Student Health & Wellness Center can update your vaccinations and assist you with completing vaccinations series. Charges apply but may be covered by health insurance. Students are advised to confirm cost at the time of their appointment as prices are subject to change. Our nurse administers allergy injections by appointment to students under the direction of their physician. Patients must bring their antigen vials to their appointment.
Nutrition Counseling
SHWC offers nutrition counseling appointments with a Registered Dietitian. Our dietitians provide specialized, individual counseling on topics such as balanced eating, shopping on a budget, meal planning, disease prevention, and nutrition interventions for medical concerns.
Travel Health Services
Make an appointment to meet with our travel health nurse for information on required immunizations and ways to prevent travel-related illness. Book your appointment early as some vaccines require a series of injections and must be completed a month or more before travel. Come prepared with your immunization records and travel itinerary.
Physical Therapy
SHWC has a state-of-the-art facility with a comprehensive rehabilitative suite to assist our students on their path to healing. We take a collaborative and comprehensive approach to healing. After examination by a primary care provider, patients may be referred to Physical Therapy. Services include all aspects of evaluation and treatment assessment so patients achieve maximum functional outcome; improve mobility, relieve pain and disabilities.
