Academic Peer Mentoring
FAQs
Who are Academic Peer Mentors (APMs)?
Academic Peer Mentors are fellow USF students who offer personalized guidance to enhance intellectual wellbeing, develop study strategies, explore major and career options, and seek resources on campus.
How do I schedule an APM session?
All sessions are booked through Accudemia. You can review the PORTAL’s Book an Appointment page for instructions. You may also call (813) 974-2713, email ASC-peermentor@usf.edu, or visit us at the Academic Success Center in LIB 206 during the ASC General Office Hours.
APM sessions are 50 minutes long, with the first session highlighting your individual goals.
How do I cancel or reschedule a session?
You can review the video tutorial How to Cancel or Reschedule an Appointment for instructions.
Alternatively, in Accudemia, you can modify your session, including canceling or rescheduling, up to 30 minutes in advance. To cancel a session, please log in to Accudemia.
- On the Accudemia home page, click “View All” under the Upcoming Appointments section.
- Hover over the appointment you wish to cancel.
- A Cancel icon will appear on the far right side of the screen—click this icon.
- When prompted to confirm, click “Yes” to cancel the appointment.
- The appointment will be removed from your home screen.
You cannot make changes to your schedule in Accudemia within 30 minutes of your session. If you need to cancel, please call (813) 974-2713 during the ASC General Office Hours or email us at ASC-peermentor@usf.edu.
Your confirmation email also provides a link to cancel your session. To reschedule, select a different session in the scheduler and create a new session.
Note: If you are unable to attend a session and fail to cancel or reschedule, you will be marked as a No-Show. Accumulating three No-Shows may result in losing access to appointment servic
What can an APM help with?
APMs tailor sessions based on your individual needs and may focus on time management, organization, test/exam preparation, academic and career exploration, and more.
If you would benefit from additional support, APMs are prepared to connect you with the appropriate campus resources(s)/department(s).
How many sessions can I schedule per week?
To ensure that we can assist as many students as possible, students may make up to three sessions per week. If additional assistance is needed, please contact us at ASC-peermentor@usf.edu.
Are online sessions available?
Yes! APM sessions may be in person or online via Microsoft Teams. For in-person sessions, you may check in at the Academic Success Center in LIB 206. For online sessions, the join link will be available on the Accudemia home page under “Upcoming Appointments.”
Can graduate students meet with APMs?
All undergraduate students at USF may meet with an APM. While graduate mentoring is not currently offered at the Academic Success Center, graduate students can be matched with a peer mentor through Relate-a-Bull.
Graduate writing support is available through the ASC’s Writing Studio.
