The College Reach Out Parent Partnership Initiative (CROPP) at the University of South Florida highlights the crucial importance of parental involvement in a student’s academic journey. CROPP is committed to actively engaging parents in workshops focused on enhancing college readiness, understanding the educational system, and creating a supportive home environment. By participating in these workshops, parents will become stronger advocates and mentors for their children, ensuring they have the necessary resources and support to reach their educational aspirations.
We are excited to collaborate closely with our parents to build a cohesive and empowering community for all our students. Through CROPP, we offer a variety of workshops designed to empower parents in the following areas:

- College Application Process: Guidance on how to navigate the college application process, including understanding admission requirements and deadlines.
- Financial Aid and Scholarships: Information on financial aid options, scholarship opportunities, and tips for completing FASFA forms.
- Academic Support Strategies: Techniques for supporting your child's academic progress and helping them with study habits, time management, and goal setting.
- College Readiness: Preparing students for the transition to college life, including developing independence and resilience.

Welcome to ParentVue, a powerful tool designed to enhance communication and collaboration between parents and schools. ParentVue provides you with real-time access to your child’s academic information, including grades, attendance records, and course schedules. This user-friendly platform allows you to stay informed about your child's progress and engage more effectively in their educational journey.
With ParentVue, you can:
- Monitor Academic Performance: Easily track your child's grades and assignments, helping you to support their learning at home.
- Stay Informed: Access important school announcements, schedules, and events, ensuring you never miss out on vital information.
- Communicate with Teachers: Use the platform to connect with educators, facilitating open dialogue about your child's progress and any concerns you may have.
We encourage you to take advantage of ParentVue to empower your involvement in your child's education. Your engagement is crucial to their success, and ParentVue makes it easier than ever to be an active participant in their learning experience.
Hillsborough County Public Schools will transition to Synergy as the Student Information System (SIS) beginning with the 24-25 school year.
Parents and guardians will continue to access Canvas for current class grades, assignments, and communication with teachers. Synergy’s ParentVUE application will provide additional student information like report cards, attendance, and graduation status.
In short, Canvas is the day-to-day hub for instruction. Teachers can post assignments, quizzes, and class discussions while integrating curriculum resources and academic tools. Teachers may provide valuable assignment feedback that is viewable by both students and parents. Students and parents can also respond to feedback directly in Canvas. Canvas Parent accounts can be created 24 hours after activating the Synergy ParentVUE Account.

STUDENT PROGRESSION PLAN
Hillsborough County Public Schools has implemented a revised Grade Point Average (GPA) weighting scale/calculation model that is recognized universally by colleges and universities, to better prepare students for gaining admission to the postsecondary school of their choice. Any changes would not impact current high school students but begin with next year’s (2023) incoming 9th grade students.
Our current weighting of advanced coursework that is added to a students’ Grade Point Average results in unusually high GPAs. College and university admissions directors must recalculate the GPA of Hillsborough County Public Schools graduates to align with those of other students from across the state and the nation.
A realignment of students’ weighted GPAs would be more consistent with college admissions and most Florida districts, allowing for more informed and accurate postsecondary options. The new model will be easier to calculate, while encouraging students to focus on taking the most appropriate classes and earn the best grade possible.
Current middle school students with previously earned high school coursework would have the credit converted before entering 9th grade to the proposed new weighting scale/calculation model.
The district engaged with current and former students as well as parents, Principals, Assistant Principals, school counselors, and district curriculum experts from both middle and high schools to get their perspective on this transition.
