The College Reach Out Program (CROP) at the University of South Florida (USF) offers a comprehensive range of services designed to support the academic and personal development of students from low-income and educationally disadvantaged backgrounds. FASFA Free Federal Aid for College 
Florida Bright Futures  Florida Academic Scholars (FAS) / Florida Medallion Scholars (FMS) 
First Generation Matching Grant  (FGMG) is a need-based grant program available to degree-seeking, resident, undergraduate students who demonstrate substantial financial need, and are enrolled in eligible participating postsecondary institutions. 
Florida Student Assistances Grant  (FSAG) Program is a need-based grant program available to degree-seeking, resident, undergraduate students who demonstrate substantial financial need and are enrolled in participating postsecondary institutions. 
Mary McLeod Bethune Scholarship  The Mary McLeod Bethune Scholarship (MMB) provides financial assistance to undergraduate students who meet scholastic requirements, demonstrate financial need, and attend Bethune-Cookman University, Edward Waters University, Florida A&M University or Florida Memorial University. Each participating institution determines application procedures, deadlines and student eligibility. 
Jose Marti Scholarship Challenge Grant  The José Martí Scholarship Challenge Grant Fund is a need-based merit scholarship that provides financial assistance to eligible students of Hispanic origin who will attend Florida public or eligible private institutions.

RaiseMe RaiseMe advertises scholarships available to students as early as their freshman year. The website matches students with micro-scholarships, which RaiseMe defines as "a small grant that you can earn during high school or community college and put towards tuition at a four-year college or university.

The year 2024 offers a plethora of opportunities for students seeking financial aid for their higher education. Here are some of the top special needs scholarships for high school seniors to consider:

  • Gates Millennium Scholars Program: This prestigious scholarship covers the full cost of attendance for students with significant financial need. It also includes leadership development programs, mentoring, and academic support.
  • Coca-Cola Scholars Program: Open to all high school seniors, this program awards scholarships based on academic excellence, leadership, and community service. A significant number of recipients are from minority backgrounds.

  • UNCF Scholarships: The United Negro College Fund offers numerous scholarships for African American students. These scholarships range from need-based awards to merit-based scholarships.

  • Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to minority high school seniors who demonstrate leadership potential, academic excellence, and a commitment to community service. It also includes mentorship and networking opportunities.

  • FSSI Future of STEM Scholars Initiative: The Future of STEM Scholars Initiative (FOSSI) provides scholarships to students pursuing STEM degrees at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and connects these students to internships, leadership development, and mentoring opportunities at participating companies.

  • Thurgood Marshall College Fund: Established in 1987, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is the nation’s largest organization dedicated to supporting historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), predominantly Black institutions (PBIs), and historically Black community colleges (HBCCs). Representing 80% of all HBCU students, TMCF provides scholarships, capacity building, research initiatives, innovative programs, and strategic partnerships. It serves as a critical resource from Kindergarten through higher education and connects top employers with talented students for internships and jobs.

    These scholarships are designed to support minority students in their educational pursuits, making higher education more accessible and affordable. By applying to these programs, students can significantly reduce their financial burden and focus on achieving their academic and career goals.
