Fall 2024 Move In

Prepare for a Successful Move

Students and their famillies moving in to The Village

Move-in time can be very stressful for students, families, and friends. To help ease some of the stress about starting your new journey we have compiled a checklist of things to do to help prepare for a successful move-in!

GET READY TO MOVE IN: BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

Sign up for a move-in time slot

All residents, regardless of their arrival date, must complete the Fall Move-In Sign Up form in the Housing Portal before arriving on campus for the fall semester.

Please note: the Fall Move-In Sign Up will be available in the Housing Portal on July 5, 2024.

Review the Move-In Checklist

Check out What to Bring for a packing list with what you should (and shouldn't) bring with you to campus!

Choose the height of your bed

Submit an online maintenance request for your preferred bed height before you arrive on campus. Keep in mind that lofting assistance may take longer after residents have moved in! Requests made during move-in week will be completed by September 1; however, HRE Facilities Technicians will continue to respond to adjustment requests in the order in which they are submitted.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ADJUST YOU BED HEIGHT ON YOUR OWN.  Adjusting the bed on your own can cause damage to the bed and/or potentially harm yourself.  Click here to learn more and submit your request.

Request and activate your USFCard

Most new students will receive their USFCard during their orientation session. If you do not have a USFCard, you'll need to submit a request for one. You must do this before arriving to move in! A USF ID is required to gain access to a student's residence hall. Your card will not work until activated, so remember to activate your card before arriving on campus.

Residence Hall Access
While we encourage you to bring your USFCard to check in, a USFCard is not required for a student to check in and receive their keys. HOWEVER, a USFCard is required in order to gain access to a student's residence hall.

Prepare items to help with your move-in

Bring water to stay hydrated, as well as sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats to protect yourself from the sun.

Approximately 200 courtesy carts will be available to check out directly during Grand Opening, so we encourage residents and families to bring their own carts or hand trucks to assist in the move-in process!

Know your housing assignment

Log in to the Housing Portal, select "My Account," then "My Assignments," then “View Assignments, Roommates, and Suitemates” to view your fall/spring housing assignment. This is also where your roommates/suite-mates/apartment-mates are listed. If you don't have an assignment, contact us for assistance.

Connect with your roommates, suitemates, or apartment-mates

Communicate and coordinate what you will bring to campus. Things like printers, microwaves, refrigerators, and TVs can be shared!

Check your insurance

Please review your student housing agreement regarding loss liability. Look into your homeowner's/renter's insurance to see if it covers your belongings on campus. If not, purchase additional insurance through your company or check out these specialized options.

Connect with your fellow Bulls!

Get in touch with other incoming students and stay up-to-date on important university announcements through your class Facebook group.
