Fall 2024 Move In

Grand Opening Day

6 steps to move in!

Welcome Home!

We can’t wait for you to join us on campus and Live the Bull’s Life! Grand Opening will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 22. If you are arriving before or after this timeframe please visit our Important Dates and Arrival Information page.

Grand Opening day is one of celebration, transition, and support.
Whether you arrive on your own or with family and friends, know that as a USF Bull, you will be welcomed by staff, faculty, and fellow students when you get to campus. Please follow our 6 Steps to Move-In when you arrive on August 22.

Grand Opening’s 6 Steps to Moving-in on August 22

Step One: Sign Up for a Move-In Time Slot

So we can best support you during your move-in experience, all residents must select a move-in appointment date and time slot in the Housing Portal before arriving on campus for the fall semester.

You can choose either a Morning (9 a.m. - 1 p.m.) or Afternoon (1 - 4 p.m.) time slot

Please note: move-in appointment sign up will be available in the Housing Portal on July 5, 2024.

Step Two: Check In at the Marshall Student Center (MSC)

  • When you arrive on campus, make your way to the Marshall Student Center where our team will help you check in and get your key(s).
  • Once inside the Marshall Student Center, proceed to the second-floor ballroom to check in, get your keys, and receive all necessary move-in information.

Staying Together
It is essential that every member of your group stays together. There is important information that is provided to students and families during check-in including how to get involved, how to stay connected, and where to park for unloading.

Family members cannot unload belongings until their resident receives their key(s). By having the key(s) in-hand, you can avoid unnecessary delays while moving in.

Step Three: Go to Your Unloading Zone

After you have checked in and received your keys, it’s time to head to a 30-minute unloading zone.

Find your residence hall and its nearest 30-minute unloading zone and nearest long-term parking lot below. For more detailed information on parking on Grand Opening Day please visit the Parking and Directions page.

Step Four: Unload Your Belongings!

It’s time to move-in your belongings! Please park your vehicle in a 30-minute unloading zone to unload your items.

Volunteers will be near unloading zones from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on August 22. All courtesy carts will be accompanied by a Bull Haul volunteer during Grand Opening.

For the safety of our volunteers, the Bull Haul move-in assistance program will be suspended in the event of inclement weather. If inclement weather delays persist throughout Grand Opening Day, Housing & Residential Education will shift to a cart checkout system. Approximately 200 courtesy carts will be available to residents on a first-come, first-served basis.

Step Five: Move Your Car to a Long-Term Lot

After unloading, please move your vehicle(s) to a long-term parking lot.

Long-term parking lots can be found here or on our Parking and Directions page.

Families and friends without campus parking permits may park in these long-term parking spaces on Grand Opening Day while they help their student unpack and enjoy campus!

Step Six: Return to Your Room and Set Up!

Now that your vehicle(s) are out of the 30-minute unloading zone, you can return to your room to take your time setting up your space.

When decorating and setting up your space, be sure to follow all USF Housing & Residential Education policies and guidelines
