Faculty & Staff
Faculty Role
USF undergraduate students are acquiring career readiness competencies in their courses, but they often do not realize it, do not take an opportunity to reflect on what they have learned, and lack the vocabulary to ultimately demonstrate their competencies to employers or graduate/professional schools. Additionally, many faculty simply do not have the time to do extensive career outcomes research in the ever-changing economy.
The ExCeL QEP is designed to address these career readiness challenges in support of USF's esteemed
faculty.
How Faculty Can Contribute to Career Readiness of Students
Be a Career Champion!
Participate in the soon-to-be-launched Career Champions program and undergo training through the Center for Innovative Teaching & Learning (CITL) to learn more about helping your students to:
-
- Choose the best experiences that align with their goals.
- Gather insights into career readiness competencies and employment outcomes.
- Understand the career readiness competencies being utilized in your courses by including them on on your syllabi.
A stipend will be given to those who participate. In addition, an award ceremony will be held to recognize the faculty, supervisors, and students who exemplify the mission of the ExCeL QEP at the end of the year.
Provide Student Evaluation
If you facilitate internship or co-op courses, or supervise undergraduate research
or student employment, you can provide a 360 degree evaluation to your students by
utilizing tools offered as part of the courses, including the Career Readiness Report.
