advancing research and Innovation excellence at USF
As a critical and vital component of one of the nation’s leading research universities, USF Research & Innovation (USFRI) is the foundation of a multi-disciplinary, multifaceted ecosystem that provides essential services, support and resources in the production of new knowledge, the discovery of scientific fact, the promotion of new innovations, and the economic growth and sustainability of the Tampa Bay region, the state of Florida, and the nation.
USFRI has partnered with other university departments to offer several research platforms:
The Florida Research Data Center provides a secure research environment where researchers can analyze restricted data collected by the U.S. Census Bureau and other federal statistical agencies.
The InfoReady portal supports internal applications, limited submissions and other funding opportunities in order to better support the research enterprise at USF.
Researchers can centralize all their research activity in LabArchives, a secure and accessible platform that makes it easy to record, organize, analyze, and share experiments and data.
Fostering research collaboration, impact & visibility
The collaborative departments within USF Research & Innovation are instrumental in enhancing the trajectory of the University of South Florida as a Preeminent R1 university, toward institutional excellence and global impact as an institution, reflective of the communities it serves and synonymous with its American Association of Universities (AAU) membership.
Led by the Office of the Vice President, which is located at 3702 Spectrum Boulevard on the Tampa campus, USF Research & Innovation partners with the Research Council and Associate Deans for Research to foster research collaboration, impact and visibility across USF's three campuses in Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sarasota-Manatee. The USF Faculty Honors, Prizes & Awards program is a national model for faculty recognition programs. A summary of USF research awards and proposals can be found in the Research Activity Reports.
From USF's admission to the Association of American Universities (AAU) to its designation as a Preeminent State Research University to its Carnegie classification as a a Doctoral University with “Very High Research Activity” and as a “Community Engaged” institution, USF boasts many research and innnovation points of pride. Each year, USF faculty members are recognized with research and innnovation awards.
