2025 Honorees
Linh Nguyen
Business Analytics and Information Systems, Computational and Applied Mathematics

When Linh Nguyen arrived at USF, she was eager to learn, but unsure of how to apply
her curiosity.
She was always drawn to numbers and fascinated by how patterns emerge from data. But
she did not want to just study theory. She wanted to understand how data could be
used to solve problems and make an impact.
At USF, she is pursuing dual degrees. One is in business analytics and information
systems at the Muma College of Business. This is where she found her why.
She is a research assistant in the iAREU Student Program. Nguyen studies how clustering
techniques could improve predictive modeling. She spent hours analyzing datasets,
writing code, and testing hypotheses.
Her most valuable lesson was about patience and persistence. Research does not always
lead to immediate answers, but she learned to keep searching for insights that could
make a difference.
Understanding data was one thing. But helping others understand it was another. She
served as a Statistics teaching assistant and realized it’s not about what you know,
but how well you can explain it.
Again, she rose to the challenge. She learned to break down complex ideas into something
tangible, into something that clicked.
Outside of class, she’s built a community within her field. She joined USF Girls Who
Code. She also helped relaunch the Information Systems and Decision Sciences Programming
Club.
Nguyen graduates in 2027 and intends to keep pushing beyond her comfort zone to look
for ways to make an impact.
